Once again all was quiet, the action of the past months had all died away and been forgotten, nobody seemed to be stirring. Seth sat alone in the Iron Helm that night, drinking quietly at his table in one smoky corner of the bar. He sat with his head bowed, hood over most of his face, only his mouth was visible; hovering somewhere between bored and peaceful smile...
Some twenty feet away, across the room full of drunken patrons singing and enjoying life sat another man, hooded and cloaked; he leaned casually in his chair, it's back resting against the wall behind him. A soft glow came from the window a foot to his right, lighting his face only a little, two tiny pins of light shone out from under his hood, almost invisible; His eyes were fixed squarely on Seth and had been for some time...
Slowly and carefully Seth raised himself up; he had been drinking slowly, and only a little so he felt completely fine, he strode across to the bar silently and casually, asking the barmaid what he owed her.
Tonight's on tha house hun, I couldn't take yer gold afta ya saved our 'ittle town an' all...
Seth nodded politely, and turned toward the door, his strange observer's eyes were still trained upon him, but you would never know unless you already knew, if you catch my meaning...
Within moments Seth was out in the cold, quiet streets; a pale half-moon hung sadly in the sky, which was a great contrast to the warm, noisy bar...
Seth strolled down the street toward the docks at a slow pace, gazing up at the stars, or at the neat cobble-stone road below him, his ears catching the footfalls of his tracker as the two walked along some thirty feet apart...
Gravel crunched beneath Seth's boots, his sheath swung silently under a long black cloak which he usually wore while in town, both hands were concealed under the folds of black cloth, but his right hand tightened around the hilt of the Stormblade...
After a few more minutes of casual walking Seth turned slowly down into one of the side streets, leaning against the wall of a store in the shadows of the alley he waited and listened carefully...
The seconds seemed to drag on for hours in the cold, silent night... Darkness covered the town like a blanket, obscuring details and casting ghastly shadows...
A single, long sigh escaped the warlock as he waited, and then finally it was time; he turned sharply to his left and drew the Stormblade as he threw back his cloak, the point of the steel came to rest expertly against his assailant's neck, stopping the man in his tracks; a long curved knife was held above his head, ready to strike...
And who might you be?
As an answer the sound of two blades being drawn rang out, and a pair of swords dug gently into him, one on his back, and the other in his side...
This was far too easy Rahul, maybe we should find a better hero?
As these words came from him a low hissing began to fill the alley, and within seconds Seth's opponents had recoiled, their weapons clattering harmlessly to the ground as the two men clutched their burning hands in terror and shock...
Seth rose up to his full height, the black cloak fell to the ground with a puff of dust and his black chain-mail shone in the moonlight, all three men backed away, not wanting to press their luck further, the first held up one hand in surrender and began to speak in a rushed, quiet speech, the sound was not enough to carry so only the four of them heard the conversation...
I must apologize for all of the cloak and dagger, but we had to be sure...
Sure of what?
Sure that you are good enough, you see, I know it's a little cliched, but we need a Hero, and although the choice around here is fairly broad, we need one who can take care of himself in the dark, and fight off attacks by hidden foes...
Either explain this to me properly now, or I'm afraid I have to go, people to see, things to do, you know...
I'm afraid it's too much to tell here in a dark alley where anybody could hear... And we cannot let these things get out, we wouldn't want to panic the people... Let us go somewhere safer...
Look, I don't have time for this, can't it wait?
I'm afraid it can't, all I can say here is that something sinister is happening, and we need you to help us fix it... There will be many black places and terrible enemies, and we need somebody who can fight, and I mean really fight, will you help us or not?
Seth now noticed a hint of fear and pleading in the mans eyes...
Well... Alright... I will help you, so tell me what it is we're going to be doing...
Not here, we will meet you in two days... Head to the mountain pass to the west in two days time, we will find you there...
Fine then, in two days I'll head up to the pass, now can I leave?
You're not even suspicious of a trap?
Sure I am, but if it's anything like the one you pulled before, I'd be more worried about your own safety...
Without another word the three men were gone, leaping onto the rooftops and out of sight in an instant. Seth carefully picked up his cloak and dusted it off before throwing it around his shoulders and carrying on toward the castle...

End of roleplay, nobody reply
